LNG

Russel Fuchs - LNG - Industry Segment Manager
Due to its versatility as a fuel and its low environmental impact, natural gas is in high demand.  Unfortunately, the major sources of natural gas are not in the areas of highest demand, making transportation necessary.  The safest means of transportation is in its liquid state by ship, which requires liquefaction plants at the point of export and gasification plants at the point of import.  Storage of the LNG at the plant locations, as well as the associated piping is critical due to the cryogenic conditions required.

LNG storage tanks are typically double wall tanks with the inner containment tank being constructed of 9% Nickel steel, welded with Nickel base filler metals, an area where the Bohler Welding Group has extensive experience and expertise worldwide.   The associated piping for loading and off loading of the ships, as well as transport of the LNG onsite, is usually constructed of austenitic stainless steel.  Here, too, extensive worldwide experience makes us the logical choice.

Filler metals for both the tank and piping are available in all product forms, including FCAW wire, SMAW electrodes, GTAW rods,  and SAW wire/flux.  For more information and details contacts our Industry Segment Manager - LNG, Russel Fuchs
